I am an owner of a 2011 E-350 4Maric and love it!!!! but really got a fever for an w-140. found one and its an 1994 S500 with 150k on it. all black,tinted windows, s600 grille, AMG rims, in really good shape. the deal is $4500 do you guys think its worth to get it? i do all the work on all my cars myself and very knowlegable almost never take it to a dealer or any car shops.all they do is rip you off!! I heard the w-140 is a "Quality" car. snd i know myself 1990s everything was made the best!!!. shoot me some thoughts please. I think i will enjoy that car even if i spend some $$ fixing it. I was growin gup in 90s i love that time it was the best and it has a meaning for me. Especially im from Ukraine.

$4.5k is top $$$. I think they only worth $2.5k. You will find problem even it does not show any issue at time of purchase. The best 140 is 98 on, the early one may still have bugs that not yet repaired.

What are the weekness in them cars, what usually goes bad? as many as i seen even in a bad shape theres no sacha price for $2500 unless its like ready for the junk yard. im going to see it on tuesday, ill judge when ill see the car and see what condition its in i guess

Be sure to take a good look at the wiring loom when you check the car. A lot of people have had a lot of grief with wiring looms in pre-1997 versions. Unless the car has been seriously abused and maintenance has been neglected I don't think you can go wrong at that price if it drives well. I don't know where you are geographically so checking for rust under the vehicle may or may not be important.

I drive a 1997 S420 that is an absolute treasure to drive. Just took a trip from California to Colorado Springs and back with no issues at all and it has 269k miles on it.

I sold my 140 after a collision with a deer, deer won and walked away. Most of the weak problems should have been address on a 20+ years old car, but some may reappear due to its age. Here is some suggestions:

No delay from transmission (from P to R, or R to D) it should shift immediately
Place a digital thermometer to check temp drop
Lower engine harness, most PO only change top engine harness. They will break apart in your hand when touch. You have to be under the car. The harness is routed around the transmission bell housing and rear engine

Got the car yesterday. drives very nice shifts smooth, i drove it back 3 hours. actually was impressed how nice it drives. check engine lit up on the way home. couldnt get the radio to work for some reason, put in the code and its not working. and didnt get to check the wire harness. I will check thta on the weekend more free time. the only things i didnt like about the car was someone did a really bad paint job, looks like maco or something, sunroof dont work and few cuts in the seats.

IgorE350, thanks for letting us know. There will always be small things that the previous owner simply lost interest in fixing. However, if it runs well and you are comfortable with it and the transaction that is what really matters.

Ignore welcome to the W140 family!!

eBay will be your friend for mirror parts interior (I replaced the rearview mirror due to the dreaded browning from the auto-dim failure), and the driver side mirror. The '94 year has the power inside rear view mirror so choose wisely!!

Yes the mirror was power i was surprised. i think someone try to adjust and broke it inside. well i took it apart and fixed it up it works fine wow i got a 2011 E-350 it dosnt even come close to this W140 in quality. Amzing car!

Just a quick feedback on my W140 buy. It is an amazing ride i love it in and out. Drives Amazing!! Glad i got it. And surprisingly MPG on freeway is really good for 5.0 engine.
