power steering gear box leak
My 1999 S320 is slowing down, may need to replace her. The steering box has a slow leak. I read where Lucas Oil has a product the can stop the leak......one reviewer said for as much as two years. To replace the box would be expensive. Is the Lucas product a viable short term solution?
Thanks

It's not going to hurt the box any. The seals are already shot. It could cause premature pump seal failure but unlikely.
You can rebuild that box. It's time consuming but not terribly expensive. That is the route I would go. Those stop leak products RARELY work.

follow up - MB fix
Happy with my S now back from dealer - no drips on the floor. Fresh alignment - Solid as a Railway Train on the highway. Personal choice to spend the money (equivalent to some W140s whole value). BUt it's done right. And still only 71 K on the clock.
