Why not pay a visit to the parts department of a dealership ask to see one. Bring along a original lug bolt to compare. You'll see the differences i.e. length of thread to shoulder, type of shoulder, diameter of the threaded area of lug bolt etc. Then, maybe you'll see how much shorter is needed. IF, if the intended lug bolt (...for your new wheel) is of the same diameter, you may decide to get a new set of lug bolts for all four wheels! 'cos its shorter and therefore you be able to tighten down. What IF, the intended lug bolt as seen from the store is thicker, as in larger diameter and shorter????

At least you'll be able to tell the difference after visiting the parts store! Obviously, the wheel offset reading should Not be way, way out of specs.of original. ...there are just my thoughts and hope it helps
