Too hard ride on sport suspension!Help
Hi
I really need advice from you guys, please Help!
I have Lorinser Shocks and Lorinser Lowering Kit on my 1996 S600 Long.
Just after I had purchased the car the sport package was installed, because the original shocks were used out .
So I couldn't really experience the ride quality of the "good original" suspension.
I think Bilstein or Sachs made the Shocks for the Lorinser Kit.
The Kit lowered my car 30-35mm .
I drive sometimes on 19" Wheels and sometimes on 20".
I have to tell you that I'm not satisfied with the comfort of the Ride.
On the Motorway it's very good, the car is running great in the curves, drives great ...,but on a bit worse road, the ride is very uncomfortable. The whole interior is "shaking"
I can feel every meter of the road.If I roll on a pencil , I can feel that.
It can be good for a sportcar but I don't really like it
AND that's not only because of the bigger Rims, cause I tryed 17" as well ,and although it was a bit better the suspension was still very hard.
What do you guys suggest?I
Is it because of the shocks ?or the Lowering springs?
I love big wheels so I don't want smaller than 19".
What would be the Best thing to do to make my ride more comfortable?
I'm thinking of changing the shocks to OEM shocks ,but reading some opinion on this Forum about the OEM shocks,I don't know what to do!Is it worth it?
Not to say that the OEM shocks cost a lot,and what can I do with them if I won't like the Ride!
The car has self levelling ,but without ADS.
Please write down the positive and negative things about the shocks,or any experience!
Thanks

All right I know all these things add up to the hard ride, but does anyone drive a w140 with OEM shocks with 20 inch wheels?
Can that be more comfortable?
Or should I just live with the fact, that it cannot be better?

I think the Lorinser spring / shock combo may be too aggressive. Its probably designed for mirror smooth German roads and /or for maximum handling and body control.
Im not sure what types of lowering springs and shocks designed for use with lowering springs are available in the market for the W140. But if you can find one that can lower the car's ride height for aesthetic reasons, but with less aggressive spring rates, shock compression and rebound, then that would probably be the key. Maybe some springs from H&R or Eibach, and sport shocks from Bilstein or Konis.
The W140 is not really meant for canyon carving, so no need for an ultra stiff suspension anyway.

I know you love big wheels....but i think a big deal of the uncomfortable has to do with your wheels...
I know exactly what you mean, i have 18's on my s500, and on bumpy roads i can feel it a bit.
I think 18's are perfect......they are big but not too big...
Mercedes actually choose 18's 255's on their last w140 grand edition model, a combination of comfort and sport...
I am not sure if its this site or www.benzworld.org ..someone bought 19's for their w140..and even though he said that the 19's lookedslightly better then 18's.on .if he had to do it again, he would have choose 18.
good luck

How can you change suspention on S600?? I thought they all had active pneumatic suspention in front anf rear with ADS. Only S320 and S420 have regular suspention. Even S500 had rear hydroneumatic shocks.
