DIY'ers of older models, pulling codes?
How big a deal has it been to not be able to readily pull codes for modules other than the engine and as I understand it climate control via the unit itself?
I gather you can pull engine related codes with a blink test which I've done before, and the HVAC via the dash unit itself, but a W140 strikes me as a
car containing some other subsystems that it would take factory level tools to access, or a chinese clone which isn't overly cheap these days either unless
I'm just not looking in the right place.
I'm sorta interested in an early S420 but I've become spoiled at being able to pull codes and even reprogram modules at will from any control module in my current non-mercedes
car with a bluetooth OBD connector and readily available software.
Something like the ASR acts up or the ABS or SRS system, is it just a matter of either taking it somewhere to be scanned or replacing the "usual
suspects" and hoping one gets lucky? I've been google'ing around but there is a looot of info to dig through.
