what is the difference

if you are going to get 'work' done on it, then save that money for the moment and get a later example - a CL 600 - its the same car, just re named. remember that this is a big complicated car, and not every garage has the ability to work on it... it has somthing like 13 computers in it!
personally I'd get a CL 500, save on fuel, save on maintainance, and if necessary drop in a later AMG 500 engine (which is a V8 as well...)
the problem is the V12 weighs so much more that the handling, soft in the first place, suffers, and the front end tends to slip out under 'enthusiastic' driving...
good luck - and remember that commas are useful when separating sentances.....
