AND THE W140 TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS BEGIN
So my w140 s420 has been running pretty well for the past 3 years. I've clocked quite a few miles on it. But, from no where my transmission started to skip some gears.
I'd turn the car off and back on and it would momentarily run OK, but suddenly it starts to skip again. I decided to get another used transmission but that too started to skip some gears.. Very weird. It would force shift itself into 3rd gear..
Anyway, long story short, I have reached the crossroad on whether I should get a brand new tranny of which I highly doubt can be found or I try to fix the 2 transmissions that I have and see how that goes.
Can a clutch or pressure disc's replacement be the cure to the sick tranns or does this issue require a whole new assembly.

There are rebuild threads on Benzworld but you will need to provide year to determine what transmission is in your car

I have a 1994 s w140 with 120,000 miles on it and just replaced the wiring harness, runs like brand new however when I slow down approaching a hill and then give it the gas it seems to jump when I give it the gas....there is no other slipping and no weird smells and has been perfectly maintained at rally motors here in New York.....should I start to think about a new trannie?....thank you.
