'97 S500 Repair Bill - Can't be right?!?!

I was just quoted the following repair bill on my one owner (in family since new, dealer maintained, 90K) S500. Is this accurate? Did I do something to enrage the dealer?

1) Central locking pump - $3,500
2) Window regulators - $4,300
3) Transmission pan gasket and pin bushings - $1,100
4) Engine mounts - $1,900
5) Valve covers - $1,600
6) A/C Evap - $8,500
These numbers essentially total the car. This thing looks and drives like new. Tell me this isn't right?

Those look like dealer repair quotes, which come from a book they all use. If you wanted to address any of them, you could do better with an indy repair shop. The good news is none of these items affect the drivability of the car, so if you are happy with the condition of the car, just ignore it. Perhaps if you are considering selling the car, some of these items might be a concern to a potential buyer, but you'd be better off selling for less and letting the new owner address them himself. If you pay for these repairs at the dealer, you probably won't recoup the cost in the sale.

Central locking pump can be repaired. There are two guys who specialize in their repair. Restoreyourmercedes(he specializes in all w140 repair) and another guy who does mostly radios, they're on YouTube. At worse you can usually buy one on Ebay for like $400. I was able to use one from a 98 E class I got from pick and pull for 50 bucks.

The rear window regulators fail on these cars quite often. They're like 20, maybe 40 bucks on Ebay. I think they're even upgraded too.

Rear window regulators just means the mechanism that brings them up and down, not the motor or relays or switches. 1800, even for all 4 is extortion considering it doesnt take very long to remove the door panels. You can grease them too if that's the problem. It's an easy repair tho it does take a drill bit and $20 rivet gun

Transmission pan gasket comes with the filter and is like 70 bucks. It doesn't take more than a couple hours to change it and most of that time is waiting for the fluid to drain out lol.

Engine mounts are hard and a decent amount of labor, but $1000 at most. No need for OEM part here.

Valve cover gasket replacement is a decent amount of time too. Go with OEM parts

And 8500 for a/c evap? What does that even mean...front and rear? Yeah that price is ridiculously high because you gotta take the dash out, maybe seats, and disassemble the whole HVAC, and rip out a bunch of stuff from the engine bay for the front one, center console for the rear.

For 8500 tho I'd say you dont need no stinking a/c lol! And you should get a whole new system for that price front, rear, pump, lines, condenser, fans, lol. Ok maybe not but ya.

No need to have a dealer do that either or use OEM or even new parts if you ask me but all that labor maybe go with OEM. The old one might even be able to be repaired.

Check out that guy I mentioned many people send their cars to him, he fixes it puts a video up on YouTube and hes not super expensive.

No thats a complete rip off. I can only assume it's from the StealerShip

NO WAY! I got my regulators done in both back doors for $690 after tax. Parts were 100 per door.
Call around..dont settle for that
