Would you buy this 1992 600 SEL? 113,000 miles $6000 USD. The ad states it was always Mercedes dealer maintained and comes with complete service records from new. A nice classic weekend cruiser, or a world of hurt?

1997 W140 S420
For 6K USD you can get a newer model in the same condition with about the same number of miles. If you are open to S500 and S420, your number of choices multiplies. I would just wait for the right car. But since you asked, 6K for a 1992 is on the high end of the price.

1992 600 SEL & 1993 600SL
I own a 1992 600SEL and a 1993 600SL. I've owned the SEL for about 12 years. I absolutely love this car but it comes with multiple issues. I can almost guarantee you that the engine harnesses have not been replaced. M.B. specifically Bosch used "biodegradable" insulation on their engine harnesses and I'm still trying to locate some of them. I've already replaced the center harness that serves the fuel injectors and cam sensors and was a 1 hour job. The harness is still available on Amazon or Ebay and with some searching, you can pick up an O.E.M. for around $300.00. These harnesses will, and almost certain on the car you are looking at, totally disintegrate and exposing the bare copper wires. Unless you do all of your own repairs and have tons of patience, RUN LIKE HELL!

His first sentence is responding to the original listing's S600, and states that there are more and newer ones available for that price. Then, his second sentence adds in S500s and S420s. Big differences indeed!

I missed that one but I think he also deleted it. I don't see it on our thread anymore...
