1995 S420. Fuel level gauge does not indicate correct level of fuel.
Hi everyone. Does anybody knows what could be the issue with my S420 fuel gauge? It shows a half tank of gas while the level is at the very minimum. Could it be a gauge itself or should I look somewhere else (sending unit, fuel filter etc.)???

The problem is most likely in the sending unit in the fuel tank. It was for me in a 1997 S320. Remove the trunk upholstry, particularly the center section, to access the sending unit which is mounted center of the tank near the top. Obviously, you do this only when the actual fuel level is down below half. This, like most electrical parts, probably is available in the aftermarket at prices half or less of MBNA's "List" price over the parts room counter.
