Question Check Engine light

This weekend I did the inside and out cleaning of my S320. I powerwashed the engine compartment and must have got something wet that I souldn't have. Probably water went past bag wrapped around dist. . The Check engine light came on & the car ran bad at idle. after driving around it dried out and has been fine ever since. QUESTION how do I get the light to go out ? Is disconnecting the battery the best or only way ?

Thanks
Rod

a Few Nice cars.
Hey bud, Yepp whenever you wash your mercedes engine it will run like a ford and chevy(like crap)and the CE light will pop on all the time, only way to turn it off other then paying mercedes $$$ to turn it off is to go to the trunk and pull the + off the battery for about 15 mins(i do) and then it will go off,but only do it after the engine is completly dry..i have a s500 that has done that 2 times on me and both times it was right after i washed the engine!!! hope that helps!!!

Any of the available scan tools can turn off the check engine light

Removing the battery cable is by far the most economical, but you'll get no info about what code was stored. The scan tools run from around US$100 to many hundreds. Also, Autozone will read check engine light codes for you, but I don't know if they will turn off the light.
