I had the same thing happen on my 2000 CLK 430. I had almost the same climate control unit as this. My mechanic used the Mercedes removal tool and disconnected the unit from the harness. Plugged it back in and it functioned properly. I went thru 2 or 3 of those units in the time I owned the CLK. There are shops on Ebay that will repair them or when you remove the unit write down the part# and search. Good luck !
