A/c Blower regulator issues

I have a 97 S500 with 93000 miles on it. I had the standard a/c problem, the fan speed wouldnt work properly but the air would still blow cold. So i replaced the regulator on the blower unit and presto everything worked perfect. Two weeks later the new regulator took a crap on me, so i sent it back to warranty it was the K.E.A make. The new regulator was in for about two weeks again and its malfunctioned as well. Do i need to step up and buy the factory Behr unit or is there another problem going on with my a/c system? The car does have a charcoal filter, i checked it and it seems to be pretty new, i,ve heard that the problem could be air blockage from the filter causing these regulators to heat up and burn out. Anyone with any suggestions? Its no fun going to work with out A/c here in the heat.
Thanks!

I did not use the Behr replacement unit and mine has been working fine for about 3 months now. I would think there may be other gremlins at work here. Odds are pretty slim you would get 2 bum parts in a row. I know the regulators are suceptable to current fluctuations. How is your battery? My regulator seemed to fail just before the battery went kaput - might have been a connection. I didn't have any tel-tale signs of battery failure though. Car cranked right up in the morning as usual, drove about 20 minutes and parked the car for about 5 minutes. When I came out, the battery was totally dead - no lights, no radio, couldn't roll up the window. I couldn't believe it just died like that. Anyway, check the battery to make sure it isn't influencing the regulator.

You know what? I had the same problem before. I replace mine regulator with a Behr and it last only 10 months. I have no way to claim warranty because some web site parts store suckks!! They won't do anything to help you. So I got the second one from Autohausaz.com (no affiliate with them, this time I make sure they honor warranty). This is works perfect without problem. It is not Behr. I guessed I was just unlucky.
