Fuel gauge problems

I have a 97 s 500 sedan and my fuel gauge seems to stay stuck near the 1/4 tank mark? Sometimes when i fill it up it moves to 3/4. Not sure if there is a float in this tank that could be stuck or if there is a bad sending unit that i need to find and look at. Anyone who has encountered this issue please help i hate not knwing if i've got an gas or not?

I believe this is a common problem. I think I read the float needs to be replaced. You can do it yourself - I will look for the links that had the steps and pics.

I found it, here you go:
