I have read that by installing a 9" K&N air filter that you will get more power.
I have also been told that Mercedes do not run well if you get to much air.
Which is true?
If this were true this would be an easy fixer upper.
Any suggestions? And if so have you done it? If not why? Recommend certain brands? Websie to purchase?

K&N filters are a bad idea on Mercedes for 3 main reasons:
1. The stock system flows plenty of air. Unlike poorly designed systems on other cars MB spent a lot of time and money to not restrict their engines. If you don't beleive me do a few timed 0-62 runs with a clean OE air filter then without one.
2. At least on the S600 their are two $650 MAS sensors that have an exposed elemant like a light bulb. K&N's let a lot of dirt threw that can ruin these sensors.
3. They let a lot of dirt threw. Their a racing filter they are not ment for street cars. But their marketing department will let you think otherwise.
Don't waste your money just buy a quality German paper filter and change it at the recommended time.
