Sunroof slider won't go all the way back
Hello on my 1999 W140 with only 10K miles my sunroof slider portion will not go back more than about 3 inches and seems like it is hitting something because the fabric is wrinkled in the back please see the attached photo. Any ideas? I do not want to force it. Motor etc all work, the car is pretty much a time capsule.
Hi, you probably have the adhesive on the liner/cover failing, has just begun to hang down from the back edge and start catching on drive. Here's a great write up on complete fix:
The sound deadening insulation on the roof has fallen down and is jamming the sunroof shade and the sunroof.
A common problem with the W140. You must remove the sunroof and shade to throughly remove all the old insulation. Installing new insulation is not necessary. Reattach/secure the sunroof shade fabric. Reinstall the sunroof shade and sunroof. I had to do this on both my W140s.
