1994 S420 Engine Swap Upgrade
Need some advice from the experts.
My ‘94 S420 finally tapped out on me yesterday, and I’m thinking it might be time for an upgrade instead of just a straight replacement. I’ve been looking into swapping in the 5.0L from a later model S500 or SL500, from what I’ve read, it’s supposedly a “direct” fit since they both run the M119.
Has anyone here actually done that swap before? How smooth was the process? Any surprises I should expect with wiring, ECU, or mounts? Just trying to get some real-world insight before I start hunting down a donor motor.
Appreciate any thoughts, feedback, or warnings y’all can throw my way.
