I just upgraded from stock 18 to 19 on my CL. I can feel the difference, but it's minimal.

In my opinion these cars are way too heavy for anything bigger than 19.

Keep in mind I had 18s. If you are upgrading from stock 17s there will be a significant change in ride quality and tire noise.

275's on the rear don't rub unless your planning to lower the car. Remember the tires play a large role in the smoothness componet in the ride of your car. If you put a high performance tire on your car the ride could suffer. I would consult www.tirerack.com before making your choice. Some performance tires can also be very noisey as well.

Good timing! I just ordered 18" ASA ST4's and Pirelli PZero Neros for my 2004 S500. (245/45-18 & 275/40-18). I was concerned about the 275's as I noticed Mercedes changed the rear tires on the Sport pkg from 275's to 265's in 2003. Any idea why ?
