Throttle Lag

I did an informal survey, maybe talking to about 20 people(techs, salesmen, enthusiasts)over the weekend. These guys all had experience driving Audi A8, BMW 7s, Lexus LS430. Most of these people said that one thing they didn't like about the S class sedans was the "mushy" throttle/ lack of throttle response. Most felt that when they pressed the gas there was too much lag. They didn't find the S models underpowered, they just didn't like the way the power was applied. On the other hand, they did find the Lexus430s underpowered. Do any of you find this to be true? MB techs and owners of S class cars said they don't find this to be true and if they did they just would use sport mode. Intresting whether the person was a bmw/audi/or lexus enthusiast, their first comment about the S sedans was the ---same throttle lag.

Sport mode does help, but I also feel that if you "train" your engine's computer well enough, it should reply to your right foot quicker. Try using tiptronic as well.

Whatever it is... Sport mode on almost all of those cars quickens response.
