Trunk lid question
Hi,
I went to the grocery store the other day in my dad’s S class. I pushed the button to pop the trunk and it opened up by itself without me going over to it and lifting the lid open. Does anyone know the device or devices that after you pop the trunk, allows the lid to extend open completely?
I’m looking to add this to my car. After I pop the trunk, it just sits there and waits for me to lift it open.

Hi, thanks for replying to my inquiry. I have no clue what you said, so I took four pictures of my trunk.
The first and last picture is of the right side without the black pumpy thing. I took it off so you can see the hinge.

Sorry; my car has them, yours doesn't. It may be that the "black pumpy" devices have become weak. Ask a dealer first, before you replace them. The trunk operation you describe may be normal.
