Is this a bad thing to do???

Hello,

Today I made a pretty sharp turn in my S430 and the little warning lamp came on for only a fraction of a second. Is this torture for my suspension? Why would that lamp come on?

It's because the wheel sensor read that the tire was losing traction for a split second, nothing to worry about. Just big brother watching a little too closely.

Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg

...hehehehe ... what a different perspective then what I'm used to and how I drive. That light comes on =all= the time for me! :p Especially on exit/entrance ramps. I guess what my wife says about me going through tires in about 15K miles is true ... that it's highly unusual. :v

Regarding worrying about your suspension holding up? These cars are amazing. I thought my suspension was tired/worn, but it turned out to be my motor mounts (put in new ones with the 5.4L swap). With the new motor mounts the car feels like it did when brand new again; even after 65K hard fought miles.

I don't understand something here, how does your 98' C43 compare suspension wise to 2000-on up S class? Does your car have full airmatic suspension or ABC??

so you're then saying that is fragile? ...a little bit of slippage from the tires is going to damage it?

NO...Not all (I constantly set off my ESP warning lights) I'm just trying to ascertain your ability to give credible advice, on a totally different class of vehicle if you don't own it? Or did you previously own an 2000S class w/Airmatic/ABC? I would say Airmatic is more fragile than the traditional spring set up found on older cars, and much more expensive$ to replace, but I still beat on it.... :v

How does this info apply to the 2000-up S class

whatever man ... if ya wanna be argumentative. Your above post contradicts this here, as I did not hear you saying anything about it =not= holding up for you; seems like it's holding up well with you beating on it like I do mine ... so one flash of the ESP is going to do ,,, what?

...what I was implying was these things are built like tanks. I won't sway from that assertation. Pardon me for assuming the S-class was built more solidly then my lowly old-gen C-class ... If you say it's the opposite, it must be right. I'm sure you can pick an old C-Class up cheap.

Hey I'm not trying to argue either, I was just pointing out your advice wouldn't be valid for the 2000-up S class, I've allready had to replace most of the Airmatic components on my 01....I don't think it's due to my driving style though, just part of the Gremlins in this vehicle...

It was this comment I''ve been trying to point out as having no bearing for comparison, nothing to do w/setting off a little warning light now and then
