I sold my Lexus GS400 and bought the 2001 S500 sport pkg. Is there a way to have the navigation map screen on as i'm driving or is it on only when i input destinations?

Heh, that's kinda funny that your map didn't follow your car.
What a waste of a navi!![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
BTW: What is up with Mercedes and BMW making it so hard on you that you can't select your own destination from the map itself like Honda can? Gr.

No ///MB it is fine...
If you track the Icon less than a 5 mile range then you will have to repeat the steps over and aver again... So view it 5 or higher and you can watch the icon without resetting it ... I like it the best at 5 mile range.. It is the only sensible way to do it...
ps.. This setting is only for crusin and viewing the NAV
If you want to step up to the next level.. Eclipse model AVN5435
makes a great intregated unit with wide screen that will set you back 1,700

Hey Brav,
I do not have that unit.. I am rolling the stock navi.. I cannot justify the money to just have a dvd looping when I drive.. My audio is where I put my $ so far. But I would love to have it

Okay, old thread, but when searching for something esle came upon this... Here is the answer. Press NAVI button, select info, select location map. This will allow you to display the map without the crosshairs and without the cursor running of the screen. This works on my 2000 S500. Hope this helps, and by the way it is not documented anywhere in the manual, found this feature by accident two years after having the car and after the dealership saying it is impossible. The only limitation is that North is always up.
