That's like 20k miles per year.

Its a lease car I'm thinking about buying. Even worse, it has a Wald (ithink) body kit and some ugly *** spinner wheels. Bad tint job also.

Wachovia leasing has it.
I would like to buy it for 45k. they have been going for 58-65 with 10-16k miles

If it's got an ugly kit, ugly spinners, and an ugly tint job, why are you even thinking about it?

I'd just get a car that you actually like. Not even 590lb-ft torque can make up for really bad looks!

because that is what I do, I will recondition it with original bumpers and wheels. Actually I have a set of amg chrome wheels/tires already.

Ah I gotcha.

I'd say 45k, which works out pretty nicely if you extrapolate the data from other cars in depreciation.

However, I might be wrong, as I'm not really sure on how the used car industry works.

If you can get it for $45k, that's a steal. I just paid $64k for an S500 Sport with 20k miles.

Ouch,, I can get you an 04 s500 sport for ...
Maybe it was certified to 100k though

09/08/05 NEVADA Factory $50,250 10,898 Avg BRI SIL 8G A Yes
08/24/05 ATLANTA Regular $51,500 30,860 Below GRAY 8G A No
08/18/05 RIVRSIDE Lease $54,000 12,281 Avg BLACK 8G Yes
08/18/05 RIVRSIDE Factory $51,250 7,886 Below MID BLU 8G A No
08/09/05 DFW Lease $50,250 5,416 Avg ALB WHT 8G S Yes
07/28/05 MANHEIM Regular $54,500 5,689 Avg BLACK 8G A Yes

Also a lot (i mean alot) of people are very scared of any s600 with high miles. People that have this amount of money( to buy a s600 and be able to afford out of warranty service) dont want to look cheap so they buy new. Also the body kit and wheels will take away in an auction environment. Usually the MBdealers wont even go close to them. That is why the price is as such.

current re-sale on the S class is horrible.. mainly due to the eventual '07 body style coming out, but also because traditionally the more expensive MB's don't hold value as well, since their buyers are usually so rich they don't care about resale and as such create a weak market for that car in the second hand world.

Find out what the residual on that car is and take $20,000 off for the body kid/wheels you have to restore.. and you're probably around $55K... so $45K seems cheap.

Hey man..I don't know where you get these price ideas?? I just checked out Autotrader.com---And there was a 2003 S600 w/52,000 miles and there asking $63,000 I think your high if you think you can pull that 04 for $45k---- They also have an 04 S600 w/38k miles asking price $75,000 good luck! unless it's been in an accident or a flood recovery...Not gonna happen w/ just 45k you'd only be able to afford a 02 S600 non-turbo model w/low miles

Manheim.com As a liscensed dealer, I have access to the Manheim Market report that give me actual recent transactions. Right now, prices for new year models 04,05 are dropping really fast. Plus, the hurricane has affected all prices lately. Market is down, time to buy, buy, buy. I just looked these up and copy and pasted them. If you want to see another car to compare just let me know and I will look it up and post the results.

this is bogus. the reason s class resale sucks is because there are so many available and it is well known that the quality and reliability of the cars are below average and very expensive to fix out of warranty. there are so many warranty claims that DC killed the free maintenance from 05 forward.
