HELP: S500 ('01) 'ABC warning - Visit work shop'
I have a 2001 S500(21,000 mls), it was serviced less then 1,000 mls and now it shows a sign saying ABC inactive visit workshop.
Update - Just took the car out and checked the manual, found the following out:
-there is a banging noise (over bumps) from the near-side rear wheel/area.
-The message on the dash still says 'Active Body Control ABC, visit Workshop!'
-Checked the manual, and it is a 'C2' Message (Medium to low priority) and states if this display appears to not exceed a maximum of 50 mph(80 km/h)
-The car height cannot be adjusted
Any ideas of what the fault could be? and the Costs involved?
Would I have to go to the stealers or could I get a specialist to resolve?
What would be the best route to take?
Thanks

Rang MB Dealer(Romford) about the car and the chap gave me a number for mercedes and said they would arrange a pick and drop the car to the nearest MB dealer for a Dianostic.
Rang the number and told the advisor the problem and he told me to go the the MB dealer and the car is ok to drive. He tells me that as long as do not go over 50mph.
Not sure on what to do now and if this MB dealer knows what they are doing?

I got the same warning on my car a couple of times. I just shut it off and restart the car and everything is back to normal. I brought it to the mechanic and he said that it was probably due to a fluctuation in voltage. S class mercedes are well known for incorrect faults from the OBC, especially when your battery get's low. Have you changed you battery since you purchased the car? If not, that battery is not going to last much longer and the voltage is probably low. You will know this because you will start to get all kinds of faults. Have the battery checked and then see if you still get the ABC fault.
