Seatbelt buckle unlatch by itself
S430 2000 with ~57K miles.
While driving, I repositioned my body to get little more comfortable and guess what? The seatbelt buckle unlatchesdby itself!! Just the driver’s one.
Later at home, I tried it several times and yes it made the "clicK" sound at usual but when I pulled out the belt (WITHOUT pressing the release button), it unlatched by itself!
I just never have seen/heard this kind of problem in any car before. Called the dealer and his estimate is $300 (part + labor)
Anyway, Has anyone experienced similar issue? Or have any advice in resolving it? Thanks in advance.

Yeah I would think MB would want to take care of that one for free before there are some lawsuits.... I can't think of a more serious safety defect. I would call MBUSA and see if that can't be done for free.
