New here with 2001 S500
Can anyone tell me the part # for the cd for the nav system I need to get for this car??
Do I have to buy a set for all of USA or is there one cd that will cover the entire USA??
I see sets for sale with dates of 2001 ish
Then I see newer cds with all of the usa on them??
Will the newer CD's covering all of the USA work in my 2001??
Does anyone have the part # of what I am looking for??
thanks
Andreas

CD's
I recently bought new CD's for my 01 S500. According to the dealer, they are not only sold in a set. I purchased it, I think there are 10 different CD's, and they are broken down for various regions of the country. They come in a zippered case and it fits comfortably in the glove box.
The new system like on my 06 SL600 is DVD based and only takes 1 disc and the detail is far better than the CD based system.

No pix yet as the car is at the dealer having a few little items checked on. The car was owned by Jeremy Giambi. Jason's little brother. The only pix I have is the one at theis website where the work on the car was done?? Rims tires etc. It has lorinser bodywork and exhaust also.
Click here and then on clients and then on Jason Giambi and there is a picture of Jason in front of the car. Not much of the car.

The best you can do with a CD-based system is to get the most recent single disc or set (I can't recall if it was an '04 or an '05 update), which has the entire U.S. Interstate system (together with major roads close to interchanges/exits) on each disc - so that you can insert your destination region disc, and drive (for example, from DC to California, insert the disc for the region that covers California) without changing discs - as long as you don't stray far from the interstate.
Your dealer should be able to provide you the part number for the most recent discs for your car. In addition, Mercedes runs an upgrade program; and periodically, as a new edition nears release, it will offer reduced rates on existing inventory.
You can also check with Continental Imports at http://www.continentalimports.com/nav_maps.html - they may be able to help.
