Cd changer for a 2001 S

Folk, I am trying to install a Mercedes MC 3010 cd changer on my 2001 S500. Have you ever done that? How difficult is do that?

P.S. I opened the left trunk compartment. Located the amp and found the three prone cable that I assume connects to the CD changer. But the cable is too short. Plus, I can't find the optical cable. Help!

presuming you're in the USA, most US marketed MBs will have the bright
orange, fiber cable tied to nearby wiring harness, so dbl check - get flashlight
in there. MC3010 install should be a piece of cake. Mine was, on 99 E320
and did not require the famed/fabled dealer activation. Did not recognize it
right off so I had to disconnect power to the head unit a few mins. Once
power restored, it was good to go.

can anyone help me save $250?

The only optical cable that I can see is that one that is already plugged into the amp. Does anyone know where the CD optical cable is located? Is it bundled behind the amp? Do I need to take out the whole amp to get to that cable? Any tips are appreciated. BTW, I called the dealer, they want to charge me $250 just labor to install the CD changer (CD changer not included) for me. Do you think that is a good deal?
