Saw a new S350....

I saw a new S350 ('06) on the road today. As I passed it I noticed how much smaller the rear doors are. Are these cars much lighter than the S430/S500?

For me, I think the 06 S350 will be pretty tempting to buy in the next 6-12 months; pre-owned of course. I'm already seeing them on ebay for around $55K. This would be great for my wife because of the short wheelbase.

I think this would be a great car for MB to bring to the US as a diesel. Talk about a slam dunk...they couldn't make them fast enough.

I agree. A diesel would be even better.

I could only imagine how slow of a car it is, but most buyers of the S350 wouldn't mind anyways.

I recently test drove one to find out for the same reason someone said above. It could be a very tempting car soon. I felt that the power was fine for me. I mean it does 70 mph and that's as fast as they'll let me drive on the interstate here anyway. It had no problem accelerating onto the freeway.

I'll follow up and say that I've chosen an S320 over V8 models before because I didn't see a big enough difference. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

I would prefer it to be a LWB though (just like the S320s I bought in the past).
