I have noticed that in any pic of the 2003 S class, when not being driven and the car is parked the mirrors are folded in. I think this is a new feature for 2003 for everytime the car is parked, and I also read that a handle will pop out of the trunk lid like the older s class because people complained about the lack of one....

There are sooooooooooooooo many new features of the new S class it isn't funny.

But the interior is definately changed (not just the comand) but the materials are softer, new door handles, softer buttons, etc....outside, wheels are now 17 inch.

Any idea if the s class instrument panel has been changed to match that of the 2003 sl

S Class
-New exterior mirros with surround lighting, LEDS will be reduced to ten, rearranged and equipped with transparent cover lens (similar to SL)

-New rear lights, using new lenses and reflectors to create brighter appearance.

-New radiator grill, which is steeper, wider, and higher

-New engine hood will be arranged which also chances the headlamps in the grill area of the engine hood paneling.

-Front headlamps with transparent cover lens & projector beams

-New front bumper, rub strips will be extended towards the centre on each side.

-New interior and exteror door sill strips (stainless steel and chrome plated)

-New instrument panel with chrome strip edging - Centre armlest lid will be a double door with a new cup holder concept. New switch modules will be inserted next to the gearshift.

-New A/C control display

-New Instrument Cluster

-New sun Visor ticket pocket, a plastic tab on the frame of the vanity mirror.

-Door lining, air vents painted.. more voluminous grab handle and software armrest for front and rear doors - new foil and leather clad panel fo rthe seat and adjustment switch. A chrome strip edging will also be added to the wood trim on all doors.

-Interior glove box compartment lid with metallic inlay

-Glove box opens by a pushbotrton with metallic inlay and backlit

-Concealed glove box compartment light, indirect lighting

-Parking brake handle now in soft paint

-Glasses compartment has a polished chrome button and the flap in metallic pushbotton.

-Rear door ashtry cover with metallic inlay and optimized ashtray insert

-Enlarged coat hanger hook

-New Inner vanity mirror covered with felt lining

-Headrest thickness inscreased, seat padding is flatter, and seatbelt buckle pip cover in matching interior colour.

-Auxiliary lamp in trunk lid

-New Comand System

-Bottle Holder

-Brochures and Web site updates expected in Late August, 2002

-Production starts September, 2002

-Cars will be on the raod in October, 2002

Yep, we have a 2003 S600 on order with every option except Distronic.

 

Wondering if you could tell us if there is any new options that are coming with the 03 S-class got S500 4matic with everything on order. Used 02's options list to make it though so just wondering if there is anything extra? AND it looks like you can get a 4matic sport too!S-class 4matic sport (almost all the way down white car in the snow)

 

Local dealer claims 4-matic on the S Class won't be available until December. If true, is that an available in US date or is production being delayed on the line until December?

 

Production on 4 matics will be in September, maybe October....but you'll have the car mid october to mid november for sure according to mercedes Canada.

 

another upgrade in the new 2003 S class will be a more powerful AC as there were many complaints in the previous version...
