hi, sorry its a 2000 model, but was registered jan 2001, can any one tell me how i can get it out of park? i've brought a fire damaged car, which has had a fire behind the dash melting part of the wiring loom, it started due to a hydraulic hose blowing off and leaking on to the exhaust, and then sucking the flames in through the air vents.
plus can anyone help with getting the engine started, i can't seem to get the ignition on??
i've taped up the bare wires, just until the new wiring loom turns up,it seem to have not shorted out any just melted some of them together i haven't got the instrument pannel connected, does this make any difference in starting it? any help please.

Since it's a 2001, I'm assuming it's a W220, so I'll move it into the appropiate forum.

not too sure of this will even help, however if your car has been in a fire and some of the wires were melted, chances are that some of them got shorted as well and you will not know if they did or didn't until you trace all the wires out which is not an easy task. our keys have sensors on them, and is read by the ignition system when you insert the key, if your key doesn't turn after you insert it, then chances are that your key is not being read and you need to trace that out. also make sure that your key has a good battery in there as well. just few thoughts.
