<<<Problem starting car! Someone please help!>>>

About several weeks ago I took my car for a quick drive to the pizzeria. 5 minutes later I go in my car and go to start it but it would crank yet wouldn't turn over. I tried several times with no luck. I waited a few minutes, just before I was going to have it towed and figured I'd try one more time, it started and I drove home. Now since then I've ran into this problem more and more frequently. Once it even stalled at a traffic light but luckiily started again 2 minutes after. It seems to usually stall when idle. Just now I started it left it idle to warm up and came back to find it off. Tried restarting and no luck. I know I did change the mass air flow sensor recently. I was incurring a rough idle even after. I don't recall ever changing the spark plug. I haven't exactly taken it for a tune up at the stealership but have changed the oil and brakes myself. If anyone has any advice for me I'd greatly appreciate it. I'm going to try getting the air filter re-oiled and possibly replace the spark plug but something tells me it's more serious than that...

I had this problem before on my 2000 s430 the dealer told me that it was my crank sensor that was gone and after he changed the sensor the problem was gone. This was my problem, I can turn the key all the way over and it would not start, I would sometimes disengage the battery and then it would sometimes work, and if the car did turn on i would have to keep my foot on the gas because it would idle funny and turn off and would not turn on again until hours later. If you are having these problems then it is your crank sensor. The price wasnt even over 100.00 dollars.

It actually does crank but it won't turn over. So do you think it's still the crank sensor? Someone else told me try changing the CPS(cam position sensor)

bad crank shaft sensor aka crank shaft position sensor will still allow the starter to turn, however you will notice that it sounds a little different when its turning, more like fast whining sound. the part is about $100 and is located right underneath the MAS sensor on top of the transmission.

the sensor should be located on TOP of the transmission case or there about, you have to look where the transmission connects to the engine block, i dont think you will physically see it because that area is kinda tight, but try feeling for it, there should be a connector. the sensor is held on with a torx bolt.
