purchasing a 2002 s 500
Just want to know what the best aftermarket warranty out there for these cars, and what specific parts should I make sure are covered in the warranty.And what is the average price for 48 months.

sorry but there wasnt any specific info on the topic maybe someone can just add what they know, it will be much appreciated. I am really close to purchasing just need this final bit of info.

A few key items you will want to make sure are covered are the Airmatic Suspension, Instrument Cluster, Comand Screen, and Power door closers. Those are a few major things I can think of, especially the first two.

From my experience with my former 2002 S500, only the airmatic was a problem. Apparently, a fuse blew and ran the air kompressor until it burned out. All replaced under warranty. Car was great, but it ended up being sold...newer 4Matic to replace it. 
(Incredible car IMO: much more solid feel and much fresher look with the 03+ updates.) I hope you're not paying over $40K for it though, assuming excellent condition, stock, and low mileage.

I always tell this to potential buyers, make sure everything major is covered from mechanical to electrical since these cars repair bills can easily run you in the thousands non negotiable. Given the options I would opt for a 03-04 model. You'll easily see the diference. Just search this board and see how many problems are being reported. You'll notice a majority will be with the 00-02 model. Be sure you are not buying a lemon.
