Extended Warranty Experience

I wanted to share my extended warranty experience with you guys. Currently own a 2002 S430 with about 54,000 miles on it. I started searching extended warranties when the car had 40,000 miles on it. Based on recommendations off this board I purchased a DaimlerChrysler Maximum Care 7year/100k warranty through Lisa at Courtesy Motorsports for about $3400 with a $0 deductible.

Last week the car was hesitating as you would accelerate from stop. The car was also driving rough. The other problem was that the infamous “Airmatic” indicator light came on.

I took it to HBL of Tyson’s and gave them the warranty paper work. Received a phone call from the Service Advisor stating the following:

- There’s a transmission fluid leak. They will need to replace the transmission pan gasket and transmission connector. This was related to the hesitation problem.

-They would need to replace ignition Coil #7 and both wires. This was the reason for why the car felt “rough.”

-They would need to repair the front Airmatic struts. The reason for the Airmatic light.

The service advisor told me that the total cost would be about $1621 of which I would have to pay $121 for the coil wires as they are considered a maintenance item and would not be covered by the extended warranty. He also stated that based on his experience dealing and working with warranty companies, DaimlerChrysler warranty was a breeze. He said he called them up, explained the problem and they processed the claim immediately. No arguments at all!!

Got the car back today and I am so happy that I purchased the “right” extended warranty based on recommendations off this board. You always hear stories of extended warranty companies finding excuses not to cover the car. I wanted to share that my experience was the complete opposite and special thanks to board members for recommending Lisa.

Good info and good post. There are many people out there with W220's that are out of factory warranty or are soon to be that can benefit from your experience.

Just spoke to Lisa, Unfortunatley the car has to be under factory warrenty now in order to put an extended warrenty on it.

Does anyone know of a good extended warrenty co in Ca. that will cover my S500 '01 that is currently out of warrenty??

Also lisa has been promoted to sales manager and wanted me to pass along that she will deliver a new MB to anyone who orders one from her at $100 over MSRP. She asked me to pass this along to you guys.

Any help with finding an extended warrenty for my S500 is greatly appreciated??

thanks

Andreas

more color on warrantydirect or others?

quick question on the warranty direct. do any of you have coverage? i was checking the site, and it looks like they have lots of different types of coverages. i am trying to avoid reading all the small print on this web page, and was wondering if someone could tell me if this company covers has full B2B type coverage? does it cover things like the infamous airmatic or command systems?

those seem to be the things that would concern me the most.....

I personally never delt with them, my car is too old. However, I've hear a lot of good things about them. You can call them an ask.

I really, really recommend you find the time to actually READ that bothersome fine print.

I have a B2B (almost) Mercury Platinum extended on my 2000 S500. I had a mercury policy on a 1995 S500 Coupe I used to own. I used it a lot! They never acted in an unreasonable manner and I highly recommend them. They are sold throgh independent car shops.

Exclamation Stay away from Carmax

All I can add to this thread for now is, stay the HELL away from Carmax and their extended warranty "deals" - my better half has had an atrocious experience with them and the subsequent quality of their repairs, esp. at the JAX, FL location.

Pictures below are of the console, note where they simply pried up the corner and voila - a "small" chip as the the service advisor stated. Yeah, obviously not small if it's your car.

Second "repair" is the brake master vacuum line tap on the rubber intake, post the MAF. Note the half-*** repair w/RTV silicone - PATHETIC.

History:
Car is a 2000 BMW which has approx 6000 miles left on the warranty and Carmax is trying to cut corners until the warranty is out for time and/or mileage. The car was originally taken for idle fluctuation problems - will not hold a steady idle, esp. when cold. It has been taken back four times without a remedy. Also the pax side headlamp was taken off for some reason and the screws were NOT replaced.

I followed up with a call to operations manager and explained that repairs were completely unacceptable. The opns. mgr did call back my g/f and at least he is taking care of it. This occured after my calling and explaining the situation, albeit as nicely as I could, that if this is not taken care of, I would seek alternate remedies to correct this matter.

Update on previous

After I called the operations manager and conveyed to him that we have a "serious" problem with the repairs done at his shop. He personally inspected the work and the car was in fact taken car of properly.

They gave us a fully-loaded Caravan until the parts arrived, replaced the rubber intake hose, replaced the pax-side headlamp screws that had been left off, and replaced the wood console. This had been the third time this car was at their shop - it was originally brought in for idle problems.

Glad to hear the operations manager took care of your problems. That chip alone on your console is grounds to go louisville slugger on some managers knee caps.

Thought I would post an updated experience with another Warranty Claim.

Had the following done at American Service Center (ASC)

MAF Replacement/Install

Valve Cover Gasket

Catalytic Converter (MB Warranty Replacement)

Misc Warranty Work

Total Repair Cost: $1200.00

I am extremely happy we bought a DiamlierChrysler Warranty. So far we have recovered our money and then some!

I wish that I could say the same....had my car flat bed to the dealer today because it was missing and they told me it had bad gas in the tank (Sunoco 93). I will have to pay for the tow and the cost to drain the tank and new fuel filter.

The price is around $800 and I can get the car tomorrow. What I dont understand is that I ran the car for 100 miles with the said "Bad gas" and had no problems, it only started running bad after sitting for a few hrs.

The stealer said that they tested the fuel in that tank and it came up bad.

Flat Bed $250

Diag $250

Drain and filter $300

None of it was warranty and I got the car 2 weeks ago CPO with 2 extra years purchased for $3900.

I took it to the same stealer I bought it from, have not even made the first payment yet.

My Ins co said they would pay for it but I would still have to pay the $500 deduct.

Yeah, Lisa really hooked us up with a nice warranty. I forgot to mention another warranty claim as well:

- CPS Sensor
- Driver Side AC Vent (Side adjustment latch broke)

Both were covered by Extended warranty with a repair cost of $500.00

On my wife's 2000 E320 we had GEICO for the 7 years 100K never used it. I think the deductible was about $300.00 and cost about $150 a years. Requires auto insurance with GEICO. The vehicle has about 75K now.
We have been looking for an extended warranty from a third party company. If the company is any good that may give you a little leverage if you are far from home or in another state.

I have looked at the following other companies that cover extended warranty on older vechicles:

1. AAAutoWarranty no relation to triple AAA
2. Agape Auto Warranties
3. Auto Advantage Inc.

I checked the bbb.com on all them by state not to bad on any of them.
I think there was a posting on one of them a few years back on a fraud site.
BBB did have some warning on other third party companies that I also reviewed like many disputes and not a member with reasons

I am still sorting through the information from the above companies. I going to check with my SA the next time I take my wife's care in for service to see if any of the above are accepted by the dealer in California

Since this thread has new life I'll post some info on here from my experience.

I contacted Lisa because of the recommendations on this board. I had a great conversation and what I thought was great pricing for DCX warranties on two cars. I purchased the contracts from her and then the problems started. I didn't receive the contract conformation from her so I tried contacting her for over a week and suddenly the girl that was always reachable was totally unreachable. When I finally did get the paperwork it was all wrong in the favor of the dealership. Fortunately someone on MBworld also posted another guys name that sells DCX warranties and I decided to give him a try.

I contacted him and asked his pricing. I almost fell off my chair when he told me. It was considerably less than Lisa's "best deal for MBworld" members. I told him straight what the issues were and he was very honest and helpful. I got the contracts I wanted and verification the very next day.

If you are looking for a contract I suggest contacting

chryslerservicecontracts.com- michael 866-278-8823

Tell him Letsjet sent you. I make no money on this but he will give you the best deal.

He's a great guy. I've sent some other MBworld members to him and no one has come back with complaints.

FYI - I just used the contract for the first time last month and everything was covered just as expected.
