Is there any any precaution one needs to take before raising the car on a lift? My car's airmatic system blew up couple of weeks back when I took it for tire rotation and they raised it up. I'm not sure if it was just a coincedence or leaving the key in the ignition caused cracked strut mounts and pump failure.

That's why I want to be absolutely sure if there is something special one needs to do before having it lifted up.
