buying a nice S class 50-60K miles

Smart or no? I want to just make sure I have the 100k Warranty on it but im told these cars are MADE for high miles... 60-70k for this car isn't even broken in yet? true or no?

Im told by people that know a crap load about them saying 100k the car is like it has 20k miles on it?

I just wanted to confirm this with all you owners out there

I know to make sure the airmatic is all set and the system cluster looked at? and of course tires/brakes ect

I was going to go for a E500 sport then I had someone who has worked with Benz for the past 18yrs tell me the new E classes are NOTHING like how they used to be built and not built to last. After the 50k Warranty on the 03-06E's good luck to you after that she told me. She said if your paying mid to high 30's my best bet is to go with an older S class between a 01-03 S Class 430.

Only thing is im in love with the look of the 03 with the new head lights/tail lights and the small things they put inside they really didn't change to much inside (right?) but thats where I am at right now Anyone have some helpful info please share or pm me

No, they don't build them like they used to. How well a car performs and delievers at high miles depends on how well the owner takes care of it.

Buy 2003+.

We bought our 02 500 with 66K miles. Man, it's like a new car. These cars do last for a long time. Our W140 had 180k miles before we let it go.

03 is very nice. I

THe reason I got this one was because for 32K Out the Door I couldn't resist.

did you end up buying from a MB dealer or private party or private dealership..

Im always worried about the private dealership I feel like they just buy crap cars from auctions and they can list them at good prices to push them out the door

I totally agree with you about the Private Dealerships. My dad and I bought our S500 at a Private Dealership. My dad is very well inclined when it comes to cars, especially Mercedes. He took apart his first benz when he was 18 . His uncle owned about 10 mercedes and was THE best mechanic in Germany. You gotta know what is good and what is bad. The one we bought is clean as a whistle. You can find a good deal, but just takes patience.

S500
i bought a 2000 s500 back last year, it had 52k miles and came w/ the a starmark warr to 100k miles or 3 years remaining. the 03 models got the new head lights, tails, hood, navi, and more comfortable front seats. Yea, i wish i could have gotten the 03, but i got such a great deal on this car, i couldnt pass up. It had all the options except keyless go, abc, and radar cruise.
