i dont actually own a benz yet. Im still a lexus owner but in the market for an s-class 430 01-03.

Do you guys have any thoughts on this car? any known issues I should be aware of before the purchase? anything at all would be helpful, no matter how small the problem...

Get the newest one you can and get a warranty that covers all electrical stuff.

This is good advice. Get an '03, that was the refresh year with the updated tail and headlamps and Comand display. Regarding the warranty, if your buying from a M-B dealer squeeze him for a 7yr/100,000 mile (from the date of original delivery) Starmark. I believe it covers everything except the Comand display.

I had an '03, drove it for 33,000 miles and it was near perfect. I hope you have the same luck in your final selection. You will enjoy coming out of a Lexus to an S Class. It is a real pedegreed luxury auto.

ya im in the middle of buying an 03 S Class I have a deal that it has 48k miles on it but it is cert. MB so it comes with another yr/100k miles... they are only asking $37,900 for the car so I told them to drop the price to 36,900 or add on another yr on the warranty.. if they don't do either im not buying it because im only covered for 1yr

if its the right deal Ill do it.. because of the warranty it comes with it.. Im having them fax me the whole car report and service history of the car..

Keep in mind the car is in IL im in FL and im not flying up there.. so I figure if I can trust MB that they did everything to the car which if I cant trust them then I shouldn't even buying a mercedes... I don't know Anyone has any ideas just post them
