Hello and please help a Fellow Car Nut:)
Hello Guys,
Just wanted to introduce myself and and throw some questions.
I'm a car nut and so far I currently own a:
1. 1989 Ford Mustang GT 5.8L far from stock
2. 1995 BMW 740IL
3. 2003 BMW Z4
4. 2005 Triumph Strint ST
Just picked up:
5. 2003 MB s500 4-matic.
Well I've picked up the car with a huge discount however it was previously hit and is possessed with strange electrical gremlins and has been robbed of the NAV, CD changer and AMP.
I'm pretty good with cars and I'd like to fix as much as possible by myself.
Here's some questions I've got:
1. How can I scan/reset the trouble codes without going to the dealer? any tricks?
2. I've already got WIS as a guide, but I'm wondering if there's any other sites with some good w220 info.
3. I need to find out what kind of a CD changer can I use with the car?
Please help me out and no flaming because of the bimmers

1) OBDII scanner
2) For Mercedes, really, MBWorld and the dealer are your two best sources. MBWorld is free though.
3) With the COMAND, if I'm not wrong, the only CD changer you can use is OEM. No aftermarket stuff.
5.8L Mustang? Bored out motor?

Hope you don't mind me asking how much you paid for the S500. With those kinds of issues to start your MB life, the discount must have been too good to pass. It sounds like you need the entire audio line replaced which can be expen$$$$$e but if the discount was good enough to offset the headache of replacing those then it's cool. The amp, command, cd changer nav, and hope they didn't mess up the fibre optics. How bad of a ding does the car have from the hit?
Welcome to Mbworld where all your questions can be answered.

Well I've paid $22,000.00.
It's got 20,000 miles and the interior is spotless sans the steering wheel.
The car was fixed as far as body work, but was terribly painted(bad overspray, maaco quality), the fenders are poorly alligned and the front bumper is from an 01-02.
Will the OBDII scanner work with the airbags/ air ride/ brakes? how do I reset that?

As for synchronizing the airbags/airmatics and stuff, I THINK a scanner may clear out those messages, but personally I would take it back to the dealer.

$22K sounds ok for a 4matic with such few miles. The scanner will clear those errors but if the fault is not repaired the errors will reappear. As for the brake error, just replace pads and sensors and the error should clear out. Newton22 is right, just go to the dealer and see what they come up with. Pay like $75 for diagnostics and see what they find.
