Dealer Decal Removal

Hello. The dealer I bought my 2000 S430 from has an ugly decal on the front of the trunk hatch on the left side. Is there anyway I can remove without messing up the paint? It needs a paint job anyway. Anyone have an estimate of how much it would cost to repaint?

Thanks.

dental floss should do the trick. a residue will likely remain - not sure what the experts recommend - a power washer will spray it right off - go down to your local do-it-yourself carwash, put $2 in, and spray that biatch off.

Thumbs up

Is it one of the sticky foils? The best results with cleaning things like that, I have with Brake-Clean. It is not harming the paint and also does not discolor plastic parts. I use to get rid of the terribly sticky pice tags also.

Hair dryer side-to-side about4-6 inches from the decal for about 1-2 minutes. Then use your finger nail to peel a corner up to get it started.Grab the corner with a pair of tweezers and keep moving the hairdryer while you pull it off.95% of the glue should come off with the sticker.

I would rather use a wax/cleaner then the brake fluid to clean any residue. Cleaners are made to get stuff off of paint.

Talking Caution

@ 1phd1jd
I said Brake Cleaner, the stuff to wash off the grease of new brake rotors

I DID NOT SAY AND RECOMMEND BRAKE FLUID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This would be the end of the paint and then you need a paint job.
