New Windshield
Came from the mall and what do I see, my windshield cracked all the way to the top. Anyone ever had a windsheild changed? Anything I should be aware of (windnoise)

My windshield cracked and my regular auto insurance covered the installation of a new one by my Mercedes dealer (I only had to pay my $100 deductable). (The insurance company complained a bit about the dealer's labor rate, but paid up anyway.) The new window and labor came to about $800, so I'm glad I made a claim.

My windshield has sandpits on it and I think $800 is worth it for a brandnew glass...
How long did they take?

make sure you get it done at the dealer, that way it will be MB glass, believe it or not I have seen a bunch of cars come through the shop that have this done at indy shops and they have wierd problems.

It took them 3 days to get the windshield in stock. Brought my car in at 8 am and picked it up same day at 5 pm. I had to leave some tape on the car around the windshield for 48 hours to allow it to set, but that was it.
FYI, my dealer is Mercedes of Oakland (California).

They're not supposed to let you leave until the windshield has set (48hrs) .. so kudos to you for getting it out! There are some liabilities involved .. you get in an accident and your windshield flies out ..yadda yadda .. I'm just hoping that this shop does good work on my broken baby!
