Engine Cool Down
Does any one else exhibit this type of behavior?
I first started doing this when I was 18 years old and had an air cooled 911 SC Targa.
I haven't run the S500 that hot to notice but probably the fan will run in much the same way.
If I open the hood it seems to cool off quicker, which I figure is not a bad thing.
I could understand it if you were planning a few runs on track day or something.
Some time ago, after a routine run with the Turbo Porsche, I parked the car in the garage. I was in a hurry so threw the car cover over the car and went inside.
I came back about 15 min later because I could hear a fan running. A quick look showed that throwing the car cover over the car was insulating the car and kept it from getting cool air. The internal, electric engine fan finally shut off after about 5 minutes with the car cover off.
My earlier drive in the car did not involve leaning on the turbos to any extent so I didn't think the car was too warm. Now, I raise the hood everytime I garage it to make sure it cools as quickly as possible.

Remember, as I stated above, it is not just about cooling the car down but also cooling the garage and house down. I live in California and we have a relatively warm climate.
You can criticize me now, but when I sell the car I will have a line at my door.
