2003 S430 Sport
New owner of 2003 S430 Sport
I just purchased a 2003 S430 Sport with comfort pkg., auto trunk opener and NAV. It has 43K miles and is still under factory warranty. I am planning on purchasing a $0 deductible, exlusive 4/100 "Platinum" extended warranty from Mercury Insurance Group for around $2800. That said, I would like check the car over for all known "problems" while still under factory warranty. WHAT SPECIFIC PROBLEMS SHOULD I BE LOOKING FOR WITH A 2003 S430?
By the way, LOVE the car, rides like a dream and is clean inside and out. Attached a pic.

Welcome aboard. Nice looking car. With the 03's you really don't have that much to worry about. As long as the car runs fine, engine looks visually clean with no signs of leaks, nothing looks out of the orginary, I thing you should be fine. Drop it off and have it serviced just to be sure it has been serviced. Change oil regularly and you should have thousands of miles to enjoy. MB says the tranny fluid is sealed and doesn't need service but I would recomend 35-45K miles service it. The old fluid coming out will be black and slurgy looking and new fluid will look clean. Just something to think about.
By the way, make sure that extended warranty company do pay for claims. Some of these companies have been known to not pay.

Pretty car! I had a 2003 S 430 sport for two years and 33,000 miles. It was a wonderful car that I drove across the country and back on a five week road trip. The only problem it had in two years was the ignition failed and it had to get towed in to be repaired. Other than that the only time the hood was open was for normal servicing.
