Malfunction...Tire Pressure Sensors.

Got this message this PM. Yet the pressure sensors still give me the correct readings...anyone else ever get this? Is this really a problem or just BS?

Nothing to worry about...

I had this happen several times on my S600, but once it was reset(reactivated) per owner's manual, all was well. Just follow your owner's manual and reactivate it....if continues, have it checked out. Good luck, I am sure it is nothing....I know how it feels when your baby throws questionable malfunction message.

I had the same problem with my cl500 a few months ago. A reset cured it.

When I first start the car, I get the Tire Pressure warning. If I don't reset every time, it tells me after a few minutes that there is a malfunction and to take it to the shop. I thought that it might be because of the PSI that I am running (30 Front/32 Rear) but I have maintained that psi for several months. I have been seeing the initial warning on start up only over the last 2~3 weeks. Maybe I DO have a sensor going out. I just hate like hell going to the dealer and going through the mental gymnastics of problem solving.

Also...I am considering swaping to OEM AMG rims from a different year S Class. Will the pressure sensors talk to my computer?

As for changing your stock wheels to an aftermarket wheels, it is not a problem....the shop will transfer the sensor from your stock to the new wheels, you just have to reset or reactivate it again. I just changed my AMG to MMR and no problems...no malfunction message at all. Just make sure to take it to the reputable shop....it takes some skills to transfer the sensors and from what I hear, it was a pain.
As for your current message, are you using the instructions from your manual and doing the "reset/activate" correctly? I know it is bit tricky...I had to do it few times to get it right. Once it was reset, I had no problems at all. Good luck.
