Central Lock Problem - Way To Reset It Myself?
Have a 2001 S430 and am having a problem w/the central locking system. Sometimes, it works perfectly; othertimes, it takes me up to 10 minutes to lock the car.
In reading the manual, I decided to "reset" the system by pressing both the door lock and trunk open buttons at once (confirmed by a "flash" on the turn signals). However, this really didn't solve anything - fact is, I'm not certain what it did or didn't do.
Anyone ever have luck with "resetting" the central lock system back to factory settings? Must I disconnect the battery or is there a way to reset the system via a key combination? A dealer techie said to leave the key in the ignition for up to 24 hours; unfortuneately, where I live and work this is not possible.
Thanks

@ sadisitic radish,
maybe that's what the MB tech meant: leave the key in the car for 24h, and.............the problem is solved. Theft-Insurance pays for a new car.
(The MB tech knew where to look for it!)

Central Lock Problem
Thanks for the suggestions kenstudios; at this point, since I need an oil change, I'm going to drop it off at the dealer and let them deal w/it.
LOL - thanks Bamberger_1 - I could use a new S550!
