Occasional Rattles....

OK...admittedly I'm picky but...occasionally at low speeds over moderately rough pavement I will hear a rattle from the rear package shelf area. It sounds like it may be the head rest(s) or the shelf. I suspect that I'm not the only one that has heard this.

Anyone on the board experience this and/or have a quick fix? I hate like hell to take this to the dealer if there is something simple that I can take care of.

Wow...in an 8 hour period, 19 people have viewed this post from the four corners of the globe and either this has never happened before or no one cares to share how they addressed this problem. Anyone??

I'm sorry, I don't have that particular rattle you're experiencing, but I do have two somewhere else, specifically behind the dash and near the passenger door.

And people think I'm just saying things like this to degrade the car. No, these rattles are real. lol

Newton,

Thanks for responding!! I kind of think it might be the head rest but I am considering removing the shelf and puting a layer of dynamat under it some how. I think I saw a post some time ago where one of the guys on this board removed the shelf to clean the glass behind the brake light.

I'll keep you posted.

Ya oxygen removed the shelf to clean that area it clips/snaps off easily but becarefull there little plastic teeth brake easily, i dont have that rattle but the middle of the dash moves alittle bit when hitting bumps, strange

When re-installing that shelf make sure it snaps tightly back in place otherwise your rattles might get louder. It took me a while to figure where mine was coming from.
