Brakes are driving me NUTS!!
I have a 2001 S that has been lowered and has solid chrome 20" wheels. First I put new pads on the car..about a month later I started to get a bad shake in the steering wheel when I would brake
...so I changed the rotors and the brakes again..every thing was good for about two months and now the shake is back and is getting worse ...do I need special rotors that are slotted and drilled or is this a waste and is going to do this again..I think its the weight of the wheels..has anyone else had this problem with larger rims and if so any solutions...thanks

i dont think the problem is related to the larger diameter rims. i'm also on a set of 20s but have never had any problems with the brakes except for the occasional squeals that may occur after washing the car.

Yea they are balanced..they are solid chrome the lorinser full face rim...Some days are worse then others, there is no rhyme or reason..it drives me nuts...the mechanic thinks that the rotors are warped..but I just changed them 2 months ago..I didnt have time to have him pull the wheel off and check but that was his guess from my description.

Your rotors are probably warped. You are gambling on this happening if you don't use OEM MB rotors or better. Some of the other stuff out there is crap. Another tip...never replace rims or wet the rotors if they are hot. This will surely warp a rotor...especially if they are not of high quality.
