That looks like my grill except for the small vertical breaks or cracks (3 on each side of the virticle bar. It looks a bit strange, actually.

Confusion...

I guess by slants I meant the inside of the grill... see picture:
Okay. I see the difference there. You are talking about a black background, not black horizontal bars... I'm starting to get it... I think.

Got it! Weeeew...

It also appears to have those three vertical "background bars" on either side of the center/main bar. (I don't like it! FWIW)

Yes... thank you.

I hope I sparked some interested... now all we need is some one with a MY2003+ S600 and a digital camera to get some close-ups of that grill... it looks like chrome/metal in the pictures froma distance, but what's it look like up close?

If it's cool, I don't think I would mind spending $250 on a genuine MB part.

Here is a quick photoshop job... I guess you can fill in the vertical support bars with some black paint or a sharpie... this is what it looks like:

Now that looks exactly like my beautiful grill--and I didn't have to use PS.

What about paintless dent repair? An independent body shop will often do it for about $100.

I have a dent in the passenger side door panel from last month. Hand slipped the door at the gas station and the door flew open and hit a bar. Still haven't had the chance to repair it.

PDRs are excellent at precision dent removal on flat or relatively flat surfaces, but they usually will not even try to remove a dent like the one above. Those really require a lot of work to repair, and the result is often unacceptable to the owner. It think it might be better to just get a new hood...

Booooyyyyyeeee!!!! We were right!!

IMO, I like the silvered vertical slats...makes the grille fuller and bigger compared to the S500/S430.

[sorry to the rest of the group in this discussion. asianml and i were debating (on the same side of the issue) two other members of the 'other' benzo forum that the grille *is* in fact different on the s600 than it is on the s500,430,350. asianml and i thought it was different in that it is all chrome and no black. the two members (on the opposite side of the argument) from the other forum didn't think it was different at all. looks like we have confirmation that it *is* different (from this discussion above). sorry to hijack - just needed to draw asianml's attention to this!] cheers.

agreed.

i had a dent almost exactly the size of yours as well as the exact same location(on the hood above the grill right on the crease)!

the body shop i go to called in thier pdr guy and fixed it for $100

you can't even tell it was dented.

if some shops say they won't touch it, call around
