Cargo Net

I just bought a 2002 S430 from a dealer.

It did not come with a cargo net.
Was this standard accessory for this year and model?

Also, There is a Velcro strap in the right hand side of the trunk were the break lights are. What is this for?

Thanks

Mark

Mine came with the net. I guess the velcro strap it just for strapping something small down. Never used it personally.

If it is standard then I will ask the Dealer to replace the cargo strap and the first aid kit.

Thanks

Velco strap on the right hand side is for small fire extinguisher. At least mine have it.

Fire Extinguisher? LoL! I guess that would be useful if your COMAND went on fire.

That's right my man, you know the deal. The one other great spot for stashing stuff in an S-Class is the little compartment on the right of the center console, I don't have an integrated phone, so it's just a dumb and useless spot. No one ever looks there.

But then again, I've never been searched.

I use the velcro strap to strap my CD cases. (I have 2 CD cases and they strap down perfectly in there.)

Maybe in Europe. All the W124 500E's did, other models as well. Not sure about post 2000. Not a bad idea to have a small one in the trunk.

The velcro strap is for the first aid kit. It's supposed to go in the compartment in the front base of the driver's seat (squeeze the handle and drop the door towards the front), but for some weird reason they relocated it to the trunk starting in 2002. I moved it back to the seat (it fits perfectly) and use the velco strap to hold a quart of Mobil 1 0W-40. It fits perfectly, too.

It sounds like someone absconded with your first-aid kit.

When I picked up my new car from the dealer it had the cargo net in the trunk. They had all of my Owner's manuals and other materials stored in the Velcro strap. I brought the manuals in the house and now use the Velcro strap for my CD case--very handy. The first aid kit was in the compartment on the front of my passenger seat. I keep an umbrella and flashlight (and Walther PPK ) in the one on the driver's seat.
