interior lighting
can someone please tell me why my instrument panel does not light up when i unlock my doors it used to but now only when i open the door. I think I might have touched something I shouldent

Opening up the front passanger door will cause the COMAND to turn on internally and start reading the NAVI CD-ROM.
Closing the trunk after the car sits for a while will cause the front AIRMATIC to lower about .5".
You can use the COMAND unit as long as the car is unlocked, even if there are no keys in the iginition, you can turn it on and use all it's features.
Pressing the interior light button to the "ON" position will cause the SOS light to blink twice and the COMAND to wake up and start reading the NAVI CD-ROM.

Many of our car's instrument clusters are currently being recalled. Letters just started going out last week I believe. Sounds like you may be on the recall list, but you can find out be calling MBUSA and giving them your VIN #. There are many threads on this here and elsewhere if you want to do a search. Recall Information Provided to Dealers
On Nov 4 The Workshop MB provided a link to the Recall Campaign Bulletin provided to dealers identifying the VINs and additional information on the clusters to be replaced. Yes, I'm posting this a lot, but the recall affects a lot of us - so wide dissemination won't hurt.

You can use command with the doors locked or unlocked. Just push power. You may have changed your interior light setting on your cluster. Check the settings and see what your delay time is set to. If it's set to zero, they wont come on.
