4Matic is Incredible
Driving up to the Boston area on saturday, I was caught in the worst rain I have ever experienced - saw two Nissans that swerved and crashed on the way there. Let me tell you, even that terrible weather, the 4Matic maintained highway speeds and control without flinching. Performing so well in such conditions exceeded my expectations and I am very impressed.
Having previously owned two RWD W220 S500's in my family and now this S430 4Matic, I strongly recommend paying that extra amount for the beauty of AWD. And to be honest, the car accelerates very well and is not too different from the 500. In dry conditions, of course I cannot compare to the highway power of my car. But, on that day, the SL would be in third gear wet mode crusing at 40 right lane with hazards on as the S would fly by.

That's pretty funny... I was coming down the opposite way, coming back from Rhode Island in the crazy rain this weeekend, the car was stable and quite like a champ. Everyone was doing 40 I was passing them doing 85.

that is really fun!! i do that all the time in st.louis whenever we get rain it rains storms!! and im just flying down the road cruising at speeds of like 65 to 85 mphs and im soo stable i can feel the traction and "if" im going to loose traction..
