Light sensor - visit workshop

Just came up today. Doesn't really affect me since I manually turn on my headlights anyways, but the message is damned annoying. How expensive of a service is it? Can it be DIY?

Either your light sensor on the windsheild is defective or disconnected.

Hey Newton, sometimes this message comes on when there's dust or dirt blocking the light coming in through the windshield. Keep in mind this sensor works in conjuction with the sun position sensor on top of the hood. If the windshield light sensor does not detect light but the sun sensor detects light, it confuses the system. Make sure your windshield is clean. Get a can of compressed air and blow between the rearview mirrior and the windshield to clear all dust in there. This could be your problem and it could also be siomething else. Just try that first.

As a matter of fact, the car is filthy right now. Gonna give her a nice wash today. See how that goes.

And welcome back ken.
